  • Bookings

by Michael Watkins, about 1 year ago
I cannot understand why it is not possible to book an appointment for the following day. Following a request to see a doctor, after blood tests, it took me a week to see a doctor, following an eight a m visit to our surgery.
  • Improving Access to GP surgeries - unmet need

by Maureen, about 1 year ago

I think most people are aware of the difficulties in getting to see a GP. Where we live the practice book on the day appointments, which means, phone at 8am, or use the app to see if you can book a telephone appointment, or go and wait at the surgery to see if you can get an appointment. The queue on the phone can be 40 people ahead of you, when you finally get through, there are often no appointments left and patients are told to try the next day. I know of several people who having tried a few... Continue reading

  • A&E

by Gemma, over 2 years ago

My dad was admitted to A&E on Sunday 18th December 2022, he was in a lot of of pain at home and an ambulance was 6 hours away. Luckily I was able to take him to A&E myself. They were inundated but saw him within 1/2 hr, I think that night they had 100 admits and then the next day declared a critical incident. It took a long time for him to get pain relief which then was given orally even after he had an iv cannula and had been told he couldn't have anything orally due to vomiting. He... Continue reading

  • Ability to book appointments online

by Colchgirl , over 2 years ago
My surgery used to let you book appointments up to a month in advance online which was handy for not having to call the surgery and for remembering to book appointments for non urgent things like managing a condition.

They took the online facility away during covid and now you have to call the surgery which wastes everyone’s time (mine snd the receptionists) as it just means the phone lines are constantly engaged!

  • Extended Surgery hours

by MarieDelia, almost 3 years ago
    Hello from MarieDelia

I would like 2 say that I have waited for GPSurgeries 2 catch up with the rest of Health care by extending hours & weekends!

We live in a 24 hour world these days & whilst I appreciate GP's have an extended patient area, it could be achieved with have rostered doctors & nurses lists, maybe interchange with other surgeries where a busier period requires more help. Also look at employing people (retirees especially) who could do the administration, and are not hampered by family. They could work later as your receptionists in the evening & at... • Long Term Condition Reviews

by Tracy Brooke, almost 3 years ago

I live with Dilated Cardiomyopathy and last year I had a really good experience of care, in the form of a long term condition review by my GP practice.

I am a Changemaker for Cardiomyopathy UK and one of the points on our Agenda for Change is focused on better care planning for patients with Cardiomyopathy. Our desire to advocate for improved care planning for Cardiomyopathy patients comes from our members telling us that they felt ‘lost’ in the system, confused about what the following steps were in their treatment and how to access additional support. This is worrying as... Continue reading

by Mesia, about 3 years ago
Hello, I am from a diverse ethnic background and I live in the North East Essex area. Early in Dec 2021 I was taken to hospital due to my heart beating really fast. As the paramedics could not record the pattern that my heart was making the Doc suggested that I should be given a portable machine for recording this and the doctor said that I will be receiving an appointment letter for an outpatient appointment. The letter arrived on the 23 Dec after I had left to work. The letter stated that my appointment was on the 24th Dec... Continue reading
