Saw some interesting posts from Ataxia UK this week about Gluten sensitivity as a neurological issue. This explained some symptoms that have been puzzling me so I decided to go gluten free whenever I can. Almost immediately felt better.

Also recently found out about primary care networks. Our local surgery, like many others, is one of a group of 4 in our local pcn. Looks to be a good initiative for NHS organisation and delivery.

  • Volunteering with a GP Practice Patient Participation Group

As a patient volunteer of the local health centre Patient Participation Group (PPG) leadership group I had a really helpful conversation this week with our social prescriber. I learnt more about this role and that the two of the greatest needs that they have identified in our rural community were social isolation and lack of transport.

Fortunately, the community we live in is well supported by groups and activities so we discussed contacting each group to explore if their members could offer help with transportation. We also discussed that social isolation may lead to lack of social confidence, so we... Continue reading

  • Waiting for Aortic Valve Replacement at Papworth

Really informative and encouraging communications at every stage. However, I've been warned it could still be cancelled......

Cardiology at Ipswich have been great throughout - as both my partner and I can testify over the last 20+ years!

Been doing some 'sorting' in the garden - not my favourite activity, having been cured of gardening as a child! The swifts left a couple of weeks ago... Continue reading

Doctors appt yesterday, diagnosed with a digital mucoid cyst. He drew a great picture to explain what is happening and why. Referral to a hand surgeon. Superb patient experience.

Visited a podiatrist in Sudbury. A quick effective solution to a niggling little problem. Also, attended a meeting where members of our local Primary Care Network were looking at development of websites for the group. Another highlight of the week was watching the combine harvester pass by the foot of our garden as it carried on its annual harvest task. Noisy, dusty, and thrilling.
