Loneliness Reduction Training Coming to West Suffolk!
Do you work for a Suffolk organisation that is connected to people experiencing loneliness? These can be organisations that promote social, mental, and physical wellbeing. If so, then Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust in collaboration with Civil Society Consulting and other partners invite you to book onto their new loneliness reduction training.
In recent years, social changes in the UK, including increased reliance on technology and weakened community bonds, which was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, have made social connections harder to establish naturally. As a result, loneliness is becoming a nationwide epidemic. Loneliness is a key contributor to various physical and mental health conditions, including cognitive decline. Loneliness can trigger symptoms like chronic stress, a weakened immune system, and high blood pressure, increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, dementia, and other chronic illnesses that can significantly impact overall well-being and longevity.
In 2020, the Campaign to End Loneliness enlisted Civil Society Consulting (CSC) to transform their research into an interactive training course. Since then, CSC has piloted and developed the training with over 150 people in a wide range of places in the UK: Norfolk, Rochdale, Tameside, Tees Valley and Stoke-on-Trent. They have also developed another resource, called 32 Steps to Togetherness.
By the end of the training, 90% of participants had a strong understanding of loneliness and its impacts, while 85% developed a clear and motivated plan to tackle loneliness in their area. CSC is now working with the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and other local partners to expand the training to West Suffolk.
About the training
The training is currently aimed at grassroots organisations or statutory sector professionals working within the local area who are connected to people experiencing loneliness. However, the course can be adapted for all.
The workshops are to be split over two days. They will run from 10am-12:30pm on both days:
Day 1: Participants will develop a deep understanding of loneliness learning the theory and psychology behind it.
Day 2: Participants will collaboratively discuss and co-produce a strategic approach/plan to tackle loneliness in local area, including partnership working.
Each participant will receive a printed copy of CSC’s Loneliness Reduction Training Handbook on the day.
The dates to save in your diaries are the 4th and 5th of June 2025.
The training will be held at the Haverhill Arts Centre.
Address: High Street, Haverhill, CB9 8AR.
If you are interested in attending the training on behalf of your organisation or would like to know more, please contact:

Recording and sharing health and social care information
We want to hear from you! Your experiences and opinions matter when it comes to shaping health and care services. We’re asking for your input on how well you feel health and social care professionals communicate to support you in making the right decisions about your care.
Your insights are vital in helping us improve how vital health and social care information is recorded and shared, making the process smoother and more empowering for everyone.
Take our survey at https://www.letstalksnee.co.uk/embeds/projects/38178/survey-tools/42736 to share your experiences with us - together we can make a real difference in shaping better care for all.
Developing guidance for patients, service users or family carers on reward, recognition and remuneration
Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Partnership have been working with the Patients Association on behalf of the East of England Integrated Care Boards to develop a survey that we can all circulate within our Integrated Care Systems to gather feedback from patients, service users and carers on their views on reward, recognition and remuneration. The feedback will help inform some principles that each Integrated Care Board can consider when developing their own policies for involvement. The link to the survey is below and the closing date is the 31st January:

Good Things Foundation help people do more online
They are looking at how to make people feel more confident to use digital health services, including things like:
• making a GP appointment online,
• a video call with a doctor / nurse,
• using the NHS app or other health apps.
They have been working with people who have faced difficulties doing things online to understand their concerns about digital health services and want to gather views from more people on ideas for a tool to help address these concerns.
Online discussions are being held as follows:
20th or 21st January for community members
16th or 22nd January for healthcare staff
They also have an online survey running throughout January.
To register your interest for one of the online discussions or to take the survey go to https://forms.gle/QoSQhpbCtCnW5Go46
To participate, you don't have to have lots of experience using digital health services as a patient or as a healthcare worker. It's fine just to be interested in this topic and to want to help make digital health services easier to access.
For participants who are not healthcare staff, we can offer a shopping voucher as a thank you for your time.
